Good little starter kit

I got the robotics starter kit a few weeks ago for my son and me. It was pretty easy to get going, which was nice. Took about 6 days to get to us here in Oregon. We had a blast putting it together, definitely kept us busy for a weekend afternoon. Pretty happy with it.

Love my new laser engraver!

I just received my desktop laser engraver and I am so excited! It was easy to unbox and get set up, which I really appreciated. I even tried it out on some leather patches for engraving right away and the results were fantastic. The lines are so clean and precise. I can't wait to try it on more projects. This store is awesome, I'll totally be back for more supplies soon!

Solid 3D printer, slow shipping

I ordered a 3d printer and some PLA filament. The printer itself is really good for the price, prints smoothly and was pretty easy to set up. I've already made a few small things and it's working well. My only real gripe was the shipping time, it took 9 days to reach me in Florida, which felt a bit long. Everything arrived well-packaged though, so no damage.

Consistently good quality

I've bought from Makers Cave a few times now, mostly for 3d printer filament and some raspberry pi accessories. This time I needed a new magnetic build plate and some nozzle cleaning kits. As usual, the quality was spot on, and everything fit perfectly. My order came in about a week, which is what I usually expect from them. They're my go-to for these kinds of parts because I know I'll get what I need without any hassle.

i signed up for the newsletter but didn't get a first purchase discount code. did i miss something?

Sometimes it lands in spam, so check there. Or it can take a few minutes to show up. If not, maybe try signing up again with a different email?

Yeah, mine came through almost instantly. If you didn't get it, maybe double check the email address you entered. Could also try contacting their support if it's still missing.

looking at a Xtool vs a Makers Cave branded engraver. anyone have thoughts on the quality comparison?

A Alex T. 2 weeks ago
Xtool is pretty well-known, good quality stuff. Makers Cave branded ones are usually good too, often rebadged from other reputable manufacturers. It really depends on the specific model and what features you need.

Hard to say without knowing the exact models. Xtool has some solid entry-level options. If it's a 'Makers Cave' brand, check the specs carefully and maybe search for reviews of that particular model. Sometimes their house brand stuff is fantastic value.

hey, anyone know if i can stack a couple of discount codes on makers cave? trying to get a good deal on a new 3d printer.

M Megan D. 2 weeks ago
Nah, pretty sure it's one code per order. Tried it myself with a filament order last month and it only let me use one.

Yeah, I think their policy is just one discount. You usually have to pick the best one for what you're buying. Sucks when you have a couple good ones, lol.

i'm looking at one of their esp32 modules, are the electronics they sell legit? like, real brands, not knock-offs?

E Elizabeth 2 weeks ago
Yeah, everything I've gotten from them has been genuine. Used their Arduino boards and some sensor modules, all good quality.

They seem to stock pretty standard, well-known brands for their electronics. Haven't had any issues with fakes or anything. My stepper motors were exactly what I expected.

is there usually a good black friday sale for laser engravers on Makers Cave? eyeing one for a while.

A Amber K. 2 weeks ago
Oh yeah, definitely. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are when they do their biggest sales, especially for the pricier stuff like engravers and big kits. Keep an eye out starting late November.

Absolutely. That's when I got my first desktop engraver from them a couple years ago. Managed to snag about 20% off which was huge.

thinking about getting the Creality Ender 3 V2 from here. how's their return policy for 3D printers if something goes wrong?

E Emily L. 1 month ago
I returned a different 3D printer a while back (had a weird issue with the hot end). It was pretty straightforward, just follow their online instructions. Make sure you keep all the original packaging.

Returns for big stuff like printers usually have a specific process. I'd definitely check their exact policy on their site, especially for something with moving parts. Probably a limited window too.

how long does shipping usually take to, like, Los Angeles for a laser engraver? trying to plan out a project.

A Alex C. 1 month ago
For a big item like that, I'd give it at least a week, probably more like 7-10 business days. Might be faster if they ship from a west coast warehouse, but I'm not sure where their main hub is.

Mine took about 6 days to get to Phoenix, and that was just for a smaller robotics kit. A full engraver might take a bit longer, I'd expect.

does Makers Cave offer any kind of student discount? trying to save a few bucks on some arduino stuff for a class project.

S Sam Garcia 2 weeks ago
Yep, they do! I signed up for it last semester. You usually just need to verify your student status somehow.

B Brian T. 2 weeks ago
I think so. Check their site, there's usually a link in the footer or in the FAQs about student discounts. Worth it for sure.
